Our second event of the year is filled with stars of print and screen as we hear from three designers at the top of their game – Sarah Boris, Adrian Shaughnessy & Annie Atkins – on what’s sure to be a memorable night at Mama Roux’s.

Sarah Boris has spent her career in some of the world’s leading arts institutions and publishing houses, including the Barbican and Phaidon, and is refreshingly vocal when it comes to matters of national identity & the current political landscape.

Her latest title ‘Global Warming Anyone?’ is a limited edition self-published book that includes over one hundred tweets on climate change by the current US president. She’ll be discussing this and other editorial projects with us.

No stranger to the stage or page, Adrian is an accomplished speaker, designer, commentator and independent publisher of books about graphic design and visual culture. As co-founder of the much-loved publishing imprint Unit Editions (and author of monographs on Herb Lubalin, Ken Garland, FHK Henrion and Lance Wyman) Adrian will be shedding light on his passion for publishing and the past, present and future of Unit Editions.

You will recognise Annie’s work from some of your favourite films, including Wes Anderson’s Grand Budapest Hotel, Isle of Dogs and Steven Spielberg’s Bridge of Spies. We look forward to peeking behind the curtain and discovering the design process for the (often) hidden objects that help contextualise the world around them.

We’re also going to be celebrating the launch of Annie’s new book ‘Designing Graphic Props for Filmmaking’ with a special discount of 50% when bought with a ticket!

This offer is only available with a ticket, however, we will also be selling books on the night with Annie on hand to sign a few copies.

For one night only we’ll be hosting this Glug on a Tuesday so mark your calendars correctly.

Annie Atkins

Annie Atkins specialises in graphic design for filmmaking. Atkins designed the graphic props for Steven Spielberg’s Bridge of Spies, Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel and Isle of Dogs, and Todd Haynes’s Wonderstruck, among other Hollywood films. Adrian Shaughnessy

Adrian Shaughnessy is a self-taught graphic designer. In 1989 he co-founded the design group Intro. Under his creative leadership the studio won numerous awards, and at the turn of century employed 40 people. Intro was an early adopter of digital technology and a pioneer of digital motion graphics.

Shaughnessy is co-founder of the publishing imprint Unit Editions. The company publishes a wide range of graphic design books. Shaughnessy is the author of monographs on Herb Lubalin, Ken Garland, FHK Henrion and most recently Lance Wyman. He has also edited, or co-edited: GraphicsRCA: Fifty Years and Beyond.
